Presentation

The Kultusministerkonferenz (KMK) provides for coordination and relevant joint services among the governments of the 16 German Länder, which individually have exclusive legislative and executive authority on education and culture.

For details see:

Services

With regard to the ECML, the KMK-Secretariat acts as Contact Point and Nominating Authority. The Secretariat continuously informs the Education Ministries of the Länder – about ECML activities and - after prior consultation with the Goethe-Institut – nominates experts for ECML meetings. Selection and nomination of experts is the result of a decision-making procedure within the KMK whereby the Länder consult internally with appropriate institutions and professionals.
