Call for workshops in 2024

The ECML has been working with the European Commission since 2013 on a joint action entitled “Innovative Methodologies and Assessment in Language Learning”. The importance of the partnership is highlighted in the 2019 European Council Recommendation on a comprehensive approach to the teaching and learning of languages. To date, the ECML has delivered over 180 workshops in 33 countries.

This coming year, we are launching a new round of workshops focusing on the following initiatives:

• RELANG – Relating language curricula, tests and examinations to the Common European Framework of Reference
• Supporting Multilingual Classrooms
• ICT-REV – Using ICT in support of language teaching and learning

A total of 17 national workshops are scheduled to take place between end of February and mid-December 2024. Bilateral events involving neighbouring countries are also encouraged, where this is both feasible and value is added.

The overall coordination of the action is ensured by the Council of Europe, through the secretariat of the European Centre for Modern Languages.

States are invited to indicate their interest in receiving a workshop in one or all three initiatives by completing the request form by Wednesday, 10 January 2024 at the latest.

States applying are also asked to indicate in the form the name and contact details of a local coordinator who will have overall responsibility for the organisation of the workshop and who is able to participate in a preparatory network meeting.

The network meetings will take place on the following dates:

• Supporting Multilingual Classrooms: 2 February 2024 (morning/afternoon), online
• RELANG: 6 February 2024 (morning), online
• ICT-REV: 19 February 2024 (morning), online
