Inaugurated in 2004, the biennial CLaSIC has been gathering academics and education professionals from Asia and beyond to showcase research and practices in foreign language education and related fields.
For this tenth iteration of CLaSIC, we are pleased to announce an exceptional lineup of keynote speakers:

Presentations proposed for CLaSIC 2024 may share insights, experiences, and perspectives on current and forthcoming developments in language pedagogy and related topics, challenge the boundaries of traditional language teaching, or explore new horizons in methodologies and pedagogy, v.,ith the aim of achieving a more innovative, effective, or inclusive language education.

To be successful at school and in the global workforce, students must acquire 21st skills, but as teachers, we are not always able to provide sufficient opportunities. By connecting classrooms across the world for project-based inquiry on STEM and STEAM topics, Level Up Village’s global, virtual exchanges foster the 21st century skills of creativity, communication, collaboration, critical-thinking, and problem-solving. Students aged 4-18 work cooperatively to explore essential content including art, literature, music, science, and social studies, while gaining core 21st century skills along with intercultural communication and digital literacy.

The Conference brings together teachers, researchers, practitioners and project managers from all over the world to share findings, expertise and experience about innovative science education methodologies.
Three days of inspiring sessions in the framework of a highly interactive onsite and online Conference experience. There will be five presentation modalities: Oral (onsite/online), Poster (onsite/online), Asynchronous (online).
All accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings with ISBN, ISSN and DOI codes. The publication will be included in Academia and indexed in Google Scholar. The Proceedings will be sent to be reviewed for inclusion in Web of Science and SCOPUS.

Plurilingual Literacy ist ein Konzept, das die Fähigkeiten des mehrsprachigen Individuums im Umgang mit Diskursen unterstreicht, die in verschiedenen Sprachen, Modi und Kontexten produziert werden. Es spielt eine zentrale Rolle bei der Förderung von kritischem Denken, Kommunikationsfähigkeit sowie sozialer Teilhabe und Inklusion.

In dieser Auflage der EDILIC-Konferenz nähern wir uns den Plurilingual Literacies aus einer doppelten, miteinander verknüpften Perspektive: Einerseits können Plurilingual Literacies als ein Ziel von Erziehung und Bildung betrachtet, andererseits als Ressource und Ausgangspunkt für die Gestaltung von Lernwegen und pädagogischen Szenarien angesehen werden.

Die 11. EDILIC-Konferenz befasst sich mit innovativen Ansätzen zu Plurilingual Literacies, welche die große Diversität von Lernenden, Lehrkräften und Erzieher:innen, Gemeinschaften und Kontexten anerkennen und einbeziehen. Sie zielt darauf ab, verschiedene theoretische Perspektiven, empirische Methoden und Praktiken auf dem Gebiet der Plurilingual Literacies in Erziehung und Bildung zu erkunden. Dies umfasst sowohl klassischen institutionellen Unterricht als auch nonformale und informelle Bildungsumgebungen.

Ziel der Konferenz ist die Reflexion über mehrsprachige Praktiken im Bildungsbereich, die Wahrnehmung von Mehrsprachigkeit und mehrsprachiger Bildung sowie die Rolle der Mehrsprachigkeit in der Bildungspolitik. Besonderes Augenmerk gilt dabei der Beziehung zwischen Forschung, Sprachenpolitik und Praxis.

Die Tagung wird sich daher sowohl mit bildungspolitischen Maßnahmen als auch mit der konkreten Unterrichtspraxis und der Aus- und Weiterbildung von (angehenden) Lehrenden befassen. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt liegt auf theoretischen Fragen und Kontroversen im Zusammenhang mit den Schlüsselkonzepten, auf denen die mehrsprachige Bildung beruht (Sprache, Multi-/Plurilingualismus, Inter-/Transkulturalität, Translanguaging etc.), den Positionen der Beteiligten sowie der Entwicklung, Umsetzung und Evaluation bestehender und neuer didaktischer Ansätze.
