On Tuesday, 12 March, the European Centre for Modern Languages of the Council of Europe hosted the SWITCH-competition. As the name suggests, the aim of this event is to foster the development of skills in switching between different languages. Organised by the Province of Styria and the local school authorities, the competition was attended by more than 60 students from various Styrian secondary schools.
These students were required to participate in an interview situation with a panel of native speakers and language teachers. In this setting, they alternated between English and a second language of their choice (French, Italian, Spanish, Russian). Examiners and jury members evaluated their performance according to a series of criteria such as language used, content and social competence.
The Sprachennetzwerk Graz (The Graz Language Network) and the European Centre for Modern Languages extend their congratulations to the young winners on their well-deserved award and the organising team for such a fantastic event!
