L2 English: specifying the Reference Levels of the CEFR

The volume entitled Criterial features in L2 English: specifying the Reference Levels of the Common European Framework introduces the concept of ‘criterial features’ for the learning, teaching and testing of English as a second language.
Referring to the six levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), the authors address the extent to which learners know the grammar, lexicon and usage conventions of English at each level, and identify properties that are characteristic of L2 proficiency  at each level (so-called ‘criterial features’).
 

Since its publication in the year 2001 the CEFR has been translated into 38 languages and disseminated widely in Europe, but also in parts of Asia and Latin America.
