The Languages: The State of the Nation report outlines baseline data on foreign language use and deficits in the UK which deepen understanding of these issues and identify key priorities for action to address them. Understanding and responding to such fundamental issues calls for concerted efforts across government, education providers, employers, language learners and the wider community to ensure that language policies respond to new economic realities. Findings from the research hightlight the need for further diversification of language provision and more inclusive language education.

The Languages: The State of the Nation report has been commissioned by the British Academy and prepared by Teresa Tinsley.
