The colloquium "Teacher education for linguistic diversity: the contribution of the ECML" was organised by the European Centre for Modern Languages of the Council of Europe in cooperation with the European Commission. This very successful event brought together over 50experts from 23countries and was followed online by almost 650 people.
The colloquium provided an opportunity to reflect on and evaluate the contributions made by the plethora of didactic research and innovative practices which have arisen over the past 15years.
At the core of the programme was the contribution made by the Framework of Reference for Pluralistic Approaches (FREPA) and its impact on different aspects of language education throughout Europe.
It also addressed the following issues: supporting multilingual classrooms and language-sensitive teaching; teaching tools for supporting diversity in education; the role of plurilingualism in new curricula; plurilingual curricula scenarios at different educational stages; reference frameworks for pluralistic approaches in teacher education; the perspective of the European Union; examples of responses to linguistic diversity in specific member states.
You can watch videos of all the sessions of the colloquium, as well as access presentations and view the photo gallery of the event on the ECML website.
