French Language and Francophonie Week will take place from 13 to 21 March. The theme of this 26th edition is “French Language and Francophonie Week: a breath of fresh air!” A variety of events will be held to celebrate the use of the language of Molière at the international level and can be consulted on the following website: Semaine de la langue française et de la francophonie.

Both French and English are the official languages of the Council of Europe. You can access the ECML website in  French and English. ECML project resources are available in many European languages. On the website dedicated to the European Day of Languages, you will also find a number of ideas for putting French in the spotlight during this week:

• The 51 challenges contained within the app or handbook encourage learners to go a little outside their comfort zone and take advantage of the plentiful opportunities available to practice or learn more about a language beyond a classroom context.
• Do you know the longest word, palindromes, tonge twisters, unique words in French? Have fun! 
• The 'Self-evaluate your language skills' tool helps you to assess your level of proficiency in the languages you know according to six reference levels described in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The game draws on the CEFR’s Self-assessment grid.
