“The Supporting Multilingual Classroom workshop is a most valuable training opportunity given the current (educational) context and challenges in Estonia. Estonia is transitioning to Estonian-language instruction education by 2030, which requires professional and timely support to be offered to our Russian-medium schools. We have also witnessed an influx of Ukrainian students in 2022 and these students need considerable support to be able to thrive in our schools and society. These circumstances make it vital that we support multilingual competences both in students and teachers and ensure that students’ mother tongues are valued while we help develop their language skills. The Supporting Multilingual Classrooms event and approaches are of great assistance in this.”
