This reference book affirms principles, provides guidance, and identifies practices that justify and illustrate a stronger connection of all teaching subjects on the basis of linguistic dimensions that all have in common. It examines the current situation, inventories plural educational resources, addresses issues relating to the organisation of curricula and teacher training, and highlights the relationship and possible convergences between the main language of schooling, regional languages, foreign languages and languages of migration.
The book refers to many works of the Council of Europe and the European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML) in this area. All ECML publications mentioned in the book can be downloaded for free at www.ecml.at/publications (registration required).
