Plurilingual and intercultural education: teacher and learner competences

Participants familiarise themselves with the knowledge, attitudes and skills that learners need to develop plurilingual and intercultural competences, as well as with the principles, professional values and competences that enable teachers to help learners develop such competences. 

Objectives of the activity

To explore …

  • teaching materials and activities to use in an educational context;
  • why and how to implement pluralistic approaches to languages and cultures in teaching;
  • professional competences for pluralistic approaches to be developed in teacher education;
  • how to include training sequences on these competences in teacher education programmes.

  • Overview of learner competences which can be developed by pluralistic approaches
  • Online classroom materials
  • Overview of teacher competences as well as examples of training activities for developing these competences

  • teachers of languages and other subjects at primary, secondary, university and vocational level
  • teacher educators
  • designers of teacher education programmes

Working languages

Trainings can be conducted in English, French and German.
