RedCircle, a platform to host and distribute podcasts
Streaming/radio services
Description: RedCircle is a podcast-hosting platform which allows users to host and distribute their podcasts. Users can create and upload podcast episodes and distribute them to various platforms such as Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, YouTube, and more. RedCircle provides users unlimited recording uploads and storage but only allows having one podcast. Also, recordings must be uploaded in mp3 or mp4 format and cannot exceed 200MB. Creators can also upload special images as thumbnails for recordings, together with titles, short summaries, and publishing dates. Moreover, they can also check RedCircle’s in-built analytics to track and increase their audience. RedCircle offers a free plan and requires login.
Evaluation: RedCircle is a handy platform for teachers and students since it is easy to use and allows them to be creative in any language. Teachers could ask their students to create their podcasts and thereby improve their speaking and pronunciation skills while discussing any topic of their liking. Another advantage is that users are provided with an email from the platform through which their listeners can contact them, limiting interaction to a specific communication channel, which is helpful in terms of privacy. Like many other podcast platforms, RedCircle business model depends on generating revenue, so it invites users to monetise their podcasts, which is yet not obligatory. Average IT skills required for use.
Cost: Free with registration.
