Linguee, a bilingual dictionary and translation tool
Translation tools
Description: Linguee is a bilingual dictionary and translation tool currently available in some 30 languages. It works by analysing bilingual texts, such as documents, websites, and official translations, to provide contextually relevant translations and examples. Users can search for a term or phrase in one language and receive corresponding translations, along with examples of usage in context from a vast database of bilingual texts. When translations are retrieved from unreliable sources, Lingt features a caution sign. Lingue is available for free. Users do not need to sign up for an account to use it, but having an account provides access to extended features. It is accessible through a browser and as an app for iOS and Android. Linguee is owned and developed by DeepL SE.
Evaluation: Linguee is a useful tool for learning vocabulary since it allows learners to learn words in content and not isolated. It can be well combined with flashcard tools such as Anki.
Cost: Free without registration.
