Audacity, an audio recording and editing tool

Audio recording

Description: Audacity is a software for recording, editing, and mixing audio tracks, applying various effects, and exporting the final product in different formats. Audacity can be used for podcasting, music production, voiceovers, or sound editing for videos. Audacity is free and open-source. It does not require signing up or having an account to use.

Evaluation: Audacity is a valuable tool for numerous audio-based tasks. Since it features many functions, it lends itself to different possible pedagogical and didactic uses such as podcasting, music composition, or creating oral exercises for language learning (see the section "Example(s) of how teachers/students use the tool"). Audacity is slightly complex at first, but once the ‘how-to’ has been mastered, using the software becomes relatively easy.

Cost: Free without registration.
