Evaluation: Vocaroo is a straightforward and useful audio recording service that can be used by both teachers and students. In addition to recording and sharing, it also provides a web link or code to embed a recording into a webpage or blog. Moreover, it allows emailing or downloading a recording to a device. It is probably the easiest existing online tool for audio recording since it requires no registration. A disadvantage to Vocaroo is that it does not provide permanent storage, and so recordings expire after a few months. In case a file is meant to be used longer than that, it should be downloaded and saved into a computer.

Vocaroo warns users that it has not been designed to share highly private or confidential audio since the short, shareable, nature of the links does not provide the degree of security required for confidential purposes. It stores data with well-known cloud storage providers located within the European Union. Vocaroo acknowledges users’ rights to access, modify or correct personal data.
