Using the European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Languages (EPOSTL)

This Training and Consultancy activity provides a forum for teacher educators wishing to introduce or optimise their use of the European Portfolio of Student Teachers of Languages (EPOSTL). Experiences of the practical implementation of the EPOSTL will be shared and issues underlying its competence descriptors will be explored.

Introduction

The EPOSTL Training and Consultancy offer is responding to the member states' need for quality teacher education.

Target groups

  • Teacher educators of foreign languages
  • Mentors
  • Student teachers

Results and benefits

  • Teacher educators will be able to make more effective use of the EPOSTL.
  • There will be improved cooperation between teacher educators.
  • Teacher educators will have a greater understanding of innovative aspects of language teaching, as reflected in the EPOSTL.
  • Teacher educators will understand the communality between the EPOSTL and other Council of Europe publications (Common European Framework, European Language Portfolio).

Long-term benefits

  • Effective use of the EPOSTL will support and enhance foreign language teacher education and increase coherence between teacher education programmes.

EPOSTL Training and Consultancy

In presentations and workshops the effective use of the EPOSTL will be promoted to support and enhance foreign language teacher education and increase coherence between teacher education programmes.

Trainings can be conducted in English or German.

Provision of member state

  • Provision of infrastructure for the event;
  • Selection of appropriate participants;
  • Local coordinator, preferably with experience of using the EPOSTL;
  • Documentation of the event.
