Whatever your situation (learner, parent, teacher/trainer, head teacher etc.), at every level of action, there are avenues to explore, paths to follow to introduce means of assessment that are open to diversity, to further develop one’s knowledge about languages in all their diversity, as well as one’s views of the place of languages in society, and to learn about different types of approach to assessment and related measurement tools, to help set up systems to reinvent language teaching etc.

We need to be daring and take the plunge... perhaps by starting with very simple actions that will give languages a place in the school and in the classroom. Before we start thinking about assessment, it's important that languages become more visible.
